BMM Desk: In 2023 we have seen many Journalists have faced various torture, harassment, threats and obstacles in when they were at their professional duties. even in the recently passed year of 2023 more than 290 journalists have been tortured in various ways. The matter of great sorrows, was our beloved journalist Golam Rabbani Nadeem, Jamalpur correspondent of BanglaNews24.com and Bakshiganj upazila correspondent of 71 TV,who was brutally killed for publishing the news._x000D_ _x000D_ Farooq Faisal, executive director of the Law and Arbitration Center (ASC), provided this information in a written statement at a press conference titled 'Human Rights Situation in Bangladesh 2023' at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the National Press Club on Sunday (December 31)._x000D_ _x000D_ (ASAK) organize a press conference. The organization prepared a report on this issue based on the information they collected from the news which were published in the media._x000D_ _x000D_ According to the report, at least 78 journalists were attacked while performing their professional duties among the victims of torture. Not only that,22 journalists were subjected to harassment and obstruction during the performance of professional duties by government officials and employees._x000D_ _x000D_ According to the report, the journalist's murder has not been prosecuted, the much-discussed journalist Sagar-Rooney's murder case investigation report submission date has been postponed again. The date of submission of the investigation report of the case has passed a century long and has been delayed for 104 times._x000D_ _x000D_ ASAK says that journalists are being subjected to assault cases in the field of media freedom and professional duties, especially the illegal and unexpected behavior of the law enforcement forces by taking away the representative of Prothom Alo Shamsuzzaman in the early hours of the morning under the identity of CID, and then denying the fact that he was detained throughout the day._x000D_ Allegations of such inhuman behavior were raised against the police during the arrest of journalist Raghunath Khan working in Satkhira district. After the arrest of Raghunath Khan, the police denied it for a whole day and after about 9 hours the arrest was shown in a case.Fact is things are happend and nobody raised voice but we hope we the journalist will see a now dawn with dignity and grace in the upcoming month and days.
