Journalist Threatened to Remove Post Related to ADSM
A scuffle broke out between two groups of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM) on the 10th of this month over the formation of a committee, leaving several injured. Following the incident, a video showing the injured being treated at a hospital was circulated on social media. Mohona Television journalist Muntasir Mamun also shared the video on his personal Facebook account.
Shortly after the video was published, Muntasir Mamun received a message on Messenger from someone named Tanvir Ahmed Jihad, urging him to delete the post. The message stated, “Delete the video immediately.”
Muntasir Mamun said, “Such threats to forcibly remove videos hinder the work of independent media.”
He added, “This kind of pressure obstructs journalists from presenting accurate information.”
Recently, one of the leaders of this new student organization was accused of attempting to take over a television station. Members of the organization frequently make negative comments about the media.
