Following the publication of screenshots related to the Swadhinota Sangbadik Forum, various pieces of information began to surface. We, too, started to investigate further. We discovered that this organization was operating both online and offline._x000D_ _x000D_ Several journalists associated with this group have indicated that although they were part of the group, they were not active members. However, none of them could provide a satisfactory explanation as to why they had not left the group. A very important member of the group confirmed that the organization began its activities in 2022 under the direction of a national intelligence agency._x000D_ _x000D_ We then attempted to trace the intelligence sources and found that the group was primarily overseen by Military Intelligence. At one point, even the group's admins included one or two intelligence officers. Additionally, a university professor was included in the group to propagate certain narratives._x000D_ _x000D_ Our next focus was on the funding sources for the organization. It became evident that the intelligence agencies did not directly fund the group. Instead, the funds were channeled through Padma Bank, with an individual journalist collecting the money. The journalist reportedly received 200,000 BDT each month to manage the WhatsApp group's activities. Due to the sensitive nature of the law and order situation in the country, we are refraining from revealing the journalist's name._x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ Besides the regular funding, the amount of money increased from November 2023 onwards, with some months seeing funds exceed 500,000 BDT. In our investigation into the reasons behind this increase, we found that the organization had started organizing offline events. For example, on November 21, a program was held with Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif as the chief guest. Similar small-scale events were regularly organized under their direction._x000D_ _x000D_ We spoke to several members of the group regarding these matters. They mentioned that announcements were often made in the group, and sometimes they were personally invited, although they claimed not to attend. However, we have obtained photographs showing those who made such claims being present at these events. Additionally, everyone was instructed to publish news stories with particular emphasis, a directive most of the members followed to varying extents.
