Sohrab Hossain, who previously served as the Kasba correspondent for Prothom Alo, recently joined the Jamuna Group’s daily newspaper, Jugantor, as the Brahmanbaria correspondent. Allegations of extensive extortion have been raised against Sohrab. Despite being based in a sub-district town, he is alleged to own two apartments in Dhaka, a market in Kasba, and several other properties in various names, as confirmed by multiple journalists from Brahmanbaria who work in Kasba and Dhaka._x000D_

Several journalists have accused Sohrab of engaging in extortion across various sub-districts in Brahmanbaria and Comilla, despite being a representative of a single sub-district. When we spoke to local journalists, they confirmed these allegations on the condition of anonymity. It has been alleged that Sohrab secured his position in Jugantor by paying BDT 100,000 to the editor, Saiful Alam._x000D_

Meanwhile, Mohammad Sohrab Hossain is also the editor and publisher of a local newspaper called "Pakkhik Salda."
Despite assurances from the interim government regarding the protection and freedom of the media, threats and attacks continue against journalists and media outlets.
