From Media to Money: The Untold Story of Amin Al Rashid and S Alam

One of the main channels for laundering black money for S Alam was 'Nexus TV' – a television station that does not broadcast dramas, films, or news programs. Yet, Amin Al Rashid has been working there as the Current Affairs Editor since its inception. Known for his 'remarkable' image as a columnist on Facebook and in various newspapers, Amin Al Rashid is now eyeing the position of News Editor at Somoy TV. To that end, he visited the Somoy TV office yesterday (Thursday). The news of this has caused discontent among many within the office, who question why an ally of a national money launderer is being welcomed at the station in a 'new' capacity._x000D_ _x000D_ We received reports of this discontent. Following that, we tried to understand the relationship between Amin and S Alam. First, we investigated the end of his job at Channel 24. A producer who worked with him at that time told us that if he hadn’t resigned, he would have been fired, as the management was extremely annoyed with him. The reason, according to the producer, was that he often acted as if he 'knew more than the authorities.'_x000D_ _x000D_ We then analyzed at least 30 of his columns published over the years in NewsBangla, The Business Standard, Bangla Tribune, NTV, and BDNews. One thing was clear: he had written about nature, the constitution, politics, and corruption, but he had never uttered a word about S Alam's corruption in any of these columns! Even long before joining Nexus, he was indifferent to S Alam's wrongdoings._x000D_ _x000D_ This is evident from a column he wrote titled "Corruption in Banking and Freedom of the Media," published on April 4, 2018, on NTV Online. In this entire piece, he focused on Nazrul Islam Mazumder, the chairman of BAB and Exim Bank, but he did not mention S Alam even once._x000D_ _x000D_ Then we came across another column of his, published in the Bengali version of TBS on June 16, 2022, titled "What is the Color of Black Money?" A wonderful piece. He himself works at an organization used for laundering black money. We were sure he would address S Alam's black money here. After all, he presents himself everywhere as a 'civil intellectual,' and his fans believe it too. But we couldn't find any mention of the true color of S Alam's money anywhere in the column!_x000D_ _x000D_ Since he presents himself as an intellectual everywhere, we looked at a column published on Bangla Tribune on December 14, 2023, titled "Questioning Power is the Job of an Intellectual." Once again, we did not see him questioning the power behind him. He wrote in his usual style, implying 'everyone else is bad.'_x000D_ _x000D_ The most interesting article he wrote was on July 17, 2024, when the whole country was in turmoil, and several students had been killed. He wrote an article titled "How Do Corrupt People Flee the Country So Quickly?" on BDNews24. This article was primarily about Benazir and the PM's Peon. But he has not yet written a single article about the looters he has protected in the media over the past few years, or those from whom he has taken money stolen from the public, even though they have fled._x000D_ _x000D_ Apart from this, he wrote two articles about genocide on Bangla Tribune. One was on July 18, titled "Is Social Media Better Off Not Existing?" and on August 21, he wrote "Mass Uprising and Personal Relationships." Everyone knows why the government had shut down the internet at that time, cutting off the entire country. Just then, this paid agent of S Alam tried to convey that people were meeting and interacting more because the internet was down – a blissful thing. And in the article from August 21, he implied that breaking friendships over Facebook profile pictures alone was not right, even for those who supported genocide!_x000D_ _x000D_ Additionally, Amin, who presents himself as a nature lover, was nowhere to be found on March 6, 2024, when the biodiversity of the Karnaphuli River was threatened by S Alam's burned sugar. At that time, he had disappeared into a 'deep hole.'_x000D_ _x000D_ Ever since it was heard that such a beneficiary and accomplice of public money looters was coming to Somoy TV, several people have expressed annoyance, and many are talking about it in the newsroom._x000D_ _x000D_ Moreover, there are more allegations against Amin Al Rashid, who has deceived the public for years by wearing the mask of an 'intellectual' while secretly taking benefits from S Alam, but we are not disclosing them at this time as they cannot be proven by us right now. However, further investigations into these matters are ongoing.
