Pintu Stands by Bikash Amid Scandal

Bikash Biswas, a reporter covering the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for DBC News, is currently on the run after allegedly aiding the escape of Dhaka North City Mayor Atiqul Islam. Biswas has not been seen at his Mirpur residence or his workplace at DBC News for several days._x000D_ _x000D_ Multiple reliable sources have confirmed that Biswas was not found at his apartment in Mirpur, Sector 10, nor at his family home in Trimohoni Barkhada, Kushtia. Law enforcement agencies have gathered all relevant information regarding Biswas's passport, which is valid until October 11 of this year. Authorities suspect that Biswas may be planning to flee the country and have notified immigration officials accordingly._x000D_ _x000D_ Law enforcement officials also visited the DBC News office in Mohakhali, where they were informed that Biswas has been on unpaid leave for one month._x000D_ _x000D_ Further investigation into Biswas's national ID has revealed that his full name is Bikash Kumar Biswas, and his in-laws reside in Kolkata, India. Biswas, a Bangladeshi national, married in India and is reportedly involved in the hawala (informal money transfer) business in both Bangladesh and India, along with his in-laws. It is alleged that they are connected to a major hawala network operating between Dhaka and Kolkata._x000D_ _x000D_ Following the downfall of Sheikh Hasina's government, Biswas reportedly helped Mayor Atiqul Islam escape. CCTV footage shows Biswas opening the door for the Mayor, who was carrying a bag at the time. This video footage has sparked outrage among journalists and the general public, demanding justice for Biswas's actions._x000D_ _x000D_ Close associates of Mayor Atiqul Islam have indicated that Biswas was carrying a bag when assisting the Mayor's escape. They claim the bag contained a substantial amount of US dollars, but the whereabouts of the bag are currently unknown._x000D_ _x000D_ Several law enforcement officials have stated that Biswas might have information regarding Mayor Atiqul Islam's current location, given their close relationship._x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_ Developments at DBC News Regarding Bikash Biswas:_x000D_ _x000D_ Following the revelation of Biswas's involvement in the crime through CCTV footage, DBC News management initially decided to terminate his employment. However, the decision faced opposition from Zayedul Ahsan Pintu, the current editor of DBC News, and Naeem Tariq, the channel's CNE. Both Pintu and Naeem Tariq exerted significant pressure on the management to reinstate Biswas. Under their influence, instead of termination, Biswas was placed on mandatory leave for one month. Despite this, Pintu and Naeem Tariq continued to advocate for Biswas's reinstatement, leading to internal disputes._x000D_ _x000D_ Most DBC News employees have expressed their desire for Biswas to face consequences for his proven misconduct, citing concerns over the damage to the organization's reputation._x000D_ _x000D_ A senior newsroom editor at DBC News, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that after the CCTV footage of Biswas escaping with the Mayor's bag of dollars went viral, rumors began circulating in the newsroom that Biswas's job was in jeopardy, as his crime had been captured on camera. Understanding the gravity of the situation, Editor Pintu announced in the newsroom, “Bikash will stay,” affirming his stance. Previously, despite multiple allegations of corruption against Biswas, DBC News management had not taken action due to a lack of concrete evidence.
