DBC News' Internal Crisis Reaches New Heights

Once again, instability has surfaced within DBC News. Recently, without any prior notice, Chief News Editor (CNE) Nayeem Tariq, Senior Reporter Kawsara Kumu, Masud, and several other journalists have been terminated from their positions. This sudden action has created tension and dissatisfaction within the newsroom. Multiple journalists from the newsroom confirmed to Bangladesh Media Monitor that, in protest, some reporters have refused to go on their assignments.

Some staff members revealed that longstanding internal issues and a lack of proper management have been affecting the news environment at DBC News. In the past, sudden heated exchanges and even scuffles with officials have taken place in the newsroom. The lack of effective measures from the leadership to resolve such incidents has led to growing dissatisfaction among the staff.

Attempts to get a response from DBC News owner Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury have been unsuccessful. With no statement from the management regarding the current situation and the discontent among employees, staff members are becoming increasingly frustrated. They demand that the organization should respect its employees and provide fair opportunities to ensure a conducive work environment.

The ongoing crisis at DBC News is having a significant impact on the environment for journalism and the professional lives of its employees. Many among the staff believe that if such behavior and decision-making processes continue, the organization could risk losing its reputation and popularity.
